Some serious AW11 trends.

Hitting London hard this A/W11:

Shredded knits

Did you throw away your holey cashmere jumper the moths seemed to love so much? Bad move. Come autumn we’ll all be wearing broken down knits. As if plucked from Mugatu’s Derelict collection (for those who don’t get the Zoolander reference, to a DVD store with you now!) we saw tatty knitwear at Ashish and Fashion East.

Pearly queen

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend but there’s something about pearls that screams old school glamour. Said to be the ‘tears of a dragon’, no girl should be without her pearl necklace. But if you’re not into emulating the Coco Chanel look, no fear; pearls are no longer just for adorning necks.

Marios Schwab embellished his beautiful collection with white and black pearls, clustering them on a shirt-dress. Over at Jazz Katze pearls climb all over opaque tights.

Colour maven

Oh spring, how you have eluded us. Unfortunately one of the biggest trends during London was rain. So what a joy it was to see popping brights on the catwalk, and for autumn/winter attire too!

Ever so versatile, the colour maven can look to brighten her day in all sorts of ways. Rock a block colour dress, as seen at Bernard Chandran, paint your nails rainbow bright, pull on aqua heels to accent a grey outfit (a tip from Antonio Berardi) or, perhaps easiest of all, throw on a coat or cardie in a rainbow shade.
